Bursa Malaysia ended mixed on Aug 27, with the benchmark index retreating as investors locked in profits ahead of the long Merdeka weekend.
At the closing bell, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 6.82 points, or 0.39%, to 1,741.72 from its close of 1,748.54 on Aug 26. The index moved between 1,739.76 and 1,752.81 during the session.
The FBM 70 bucked the weaker trend, rising 46.94 points, or 0.26%, to 18,275.16, while the FBM Shariah gained 29.97 points, or 0.24%, to 12,696.92.
Meanwhile, the F4GBM slipped 1.80 points, or 0.17%, to 1,046.40, while the FBM Emas declined 23.75 points, or 0.18%, to 12,892.11.
Among the most actively traded counters, Zetrix AI Bhd fell 6.5 sen to 59.5 sen on 257.61 million shares, while Ni Hsin Group Bhd gained two sen to 20 sen on 64.37 million shares.
NationGate Holdings Bhd advanced 11 sen to RM1.81 on 59.22 million shares, while JAKS Resources Bhd was unchanged at 12.5 sen on 58.2 million shares. Eco-Shop Marketing Bhd eased one sen to RM1.45 on 56.98 million shares.
Market turnover declined to 3.85 billion units worth RM3.46 billion, from 4.17 billion units valued at RM4.23 billion on Aug 26.
The market will be closed on Aug 31 for the Merdeka Day public holiday.
