A former chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) and a former Treasury secretary-general arrived at the Magistrate’s Court here today for remand proceedings linked to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on the institution.
The two men, both in their 60s, arrived at 9.31am wearing orange Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) remand shirts.
Also seen at the court was a former TH chief executive officer who was previously remanded on Aug 21.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman yesterday confirmed that the two former officials were arrested at 4pm after appearing at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to assist investigations.
The TH RCI report, made public on July 29, detailed various management and operational weaknesses at the institution between 2014 and 2020. It also identified problematic investments that require a forensic audit.
The report further stated that suspicious transactions and concealment of information had taken place.
The remand proceedings come as authorities continue investigations into the findings outlined in the RCI report.
