Bursa Malaysia Extends Gains At Midday Ahead Of BNM Rate Decision

Bursa Malaysia stayed in positive territory at midday of Sept 3, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) adding 1.80 points to 1,710.54, supported by renewed buying in financial, construction and healthcare stocks as investors awaited Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) Overnight Policy Rate decision later in the day.

At 12.30pm, the benchmark index was up 0.11% from its close of 1,708.74 on Sept 2 after trading between 1,708.47 and 1,715.85.

The broader market was also mostly firmer, with the FBM 70 gained 78.96 points to 17,863.53, while the FBM Emas rose 23.71 points to 12,650.54. The FBM Shariah slipped six points to 12,404.35.

Market breadth remained positive, with 510 gainers against 442 losers, while 549 counters were unchanged. Turnover stood at 2.14 billion units worth RM1.41 billion.

Among the top gainers, Allianz Malaysia Bhd rose 32 sen to RM21.68, United Plantations Bhd added 30 sen to RM33.08, while MI Technovation Bhd gained 19 sen to RM5.74. UWC Bhd climbed 18 sen to RM6.51 and Vestland Bhd advanced 16.5 sen to 93 sen.

On the downside, Nestlé (M) Bhd led the decliners, falling RM1.80 to RM94.72, followed by BLD Plantation Bhd, which lost 46 sen to RM14.54, and Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd, down 40 sen to RM22.30.

Meanwhile, Zetrix AI Bhd was the most actively traded counter, easing half a sen to 21.5 sen, followed by Ingenieur Gudang Bhd and Focus Dynamics Group Bhd. Supermax Corporation Bhd gained 3.5 sen to 37.5 sen, while Tanco Holdings Bhd rose one sen to 18 sen.
