A short-term partial lane closure at Lebuh Raya Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu and Gat Lebuh Cecil will take place from 10:00pm on 7 September to 5:00 am on 10 September 2026 to facilitate utility relocation works for the Penang Light Rail Transit (LRT) Mutiara Line.
According to MRT Corp, the closure will affect the entry slip road from Lebuh Raya Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu towards Gat Lebuh Cecil, near SMT System Metal Technology Sdn. Bhd.
The other lanes will remain open to traffic throughout the closure period.
Road users heading towards Lebuh Cecil may instead use Gat Lebuh Macallum to access Jalan C.Y. Choy before proceeding to Lebuh Cecil.
The three-night closure is part of construction works under the Penang Mutiara Line’s CMC1 Package, which includes the relocation of existing utilities to make way for the LRT project.
MRT Corp advised motorists to follow directional signs and traffic management instructions at the affected area. The Mutiara Line Project Emergency Response Team will also be stationed on site, with safety barriers, traffic cones and flagmen deployed to manage traffic and ensure road users’ safety.
Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and allow additional travel time during the closure period.
