HHRG Bhd has appointed prominent entrepreneur and Weststar Group founder Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Azman Syed Ibrahim as its executive chairman, effective Sept 4, 2026.
The group said the 66-year-old brings extensive business experience spanning the automotive, aviation, defence, construction, property, insurance, information and communications technology (ICT), food and beverage, and renewable energy sectors.
Syed Azman began his career with the Royal Intelligence Corps of the Malaysian Armed Forces, where he served for 30 years before retiring as a Major in 1994.
He subsequently ventured into business through the sale of imported vehicles before expanding his automotive interests by securing franchises involving international brands including Honda, Chevrolet, Ford, Smart, Audi and Suzuki.
His automotive businesses include Weststar Auto, a Honda dealership; Weststar Motors, which specialises in imported luxury vehicles; and Weststar Maxus, a distributor of commercial vehicles in Malaysia.
