A total of 35 locations nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 4 pm today. Sri Aman in Sarawak was the only area to record a very unhealthy reading, at 216.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, no location recorded a hazardous reading. Meanwhile, 27 locations recorded moderate air quality and four recorded good readings.
Sarawak remained the worst-affected state, with unhealthy readings recorded at 11 locations. They were Samalaju (196), Samarahan (196), Kuching (191), Bintulu (190), Mukah (188), Sarikei (185), IPD Serian (182), ILP Miri (176), Sibu (174), Miri (170) and Limbang (157).
Kapit was the only station in Sarawak to record moderate air quality, with an API reading of 90.
Outside Sarawak, six locations in Selangor also recorded unhealthy readings. They were Johan Setia (181), Shah Alam (168), Kuala Selangor (158), Petaling Jaya (157), Klang (156) and Banting (155).
Unhealthy readings were also recorded at Batu Muda (164) and Cheras (162) in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya (162) and Labuan (157).
In other parts of the country, Jerantut (168) and Temerloh (161) in Pahang recorded unhealthy readings. The same was recorded in Nilai (167), Seremban (164) and Port Dickson (121) in Negeri Sembilan, as well as Kota Kinabalu (157) and Kimanis (151) in Sabah and Tanjung Malim (153) in Perak.
In the southern region, four locations in Johor recorded unhealthy readings. They were Segamat (159), Tangkak (151), Batu Pahat (127) and Kluang (103). In Melaka, Alor Gajah and Bukit Rambai each recorded an API reading of 154.
Under the API classification, readings of 0 to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy and above 300 hazardous.
