Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow will undertake a working visit to Malaysia from Sept 6 to 7, continuing high-level engagement between the two neighbouring ASEAN countries.
The visit follows Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s official visit to Malaysia on July 9 and 10.
During the visit, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Hasan will host a working lunch for Sihasak tomorrow.
The meeting is expected to cover the progress of bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation in areas including trade and investment, border connectivity and agriculture.
The two sides are also expected to exchange views on the latest developments in southern Thailand.
Thailand was Malaysia’s sixth-largest trading partner globally and second-largest among ASEAN member states in 2025, with total bilateral trade reaching RM118.57 billion (US$27.73 billion).
From January to July this year, bilateral trade rose to RM85.01 billion (US$21.13 billion), compared with RM66.95 billion (US$16.64 billion) in the same period last year.
The visit is part of regular high-level exchanges between Malaysia and Thailand and reflects both countries’ continued efforts to maintain close consultations and advance cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
