IJN Named Asia’s Most Advanced Healthcare Technology Provider

Malaysia’s progress in digital healthcare has received regional recognition after Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) won the Gold Award for Most Advanced Healthcare Technology at the Hospital Management Asia (HMA) Awards 2026 in Bangkok.

The award recognised IJN’s work in translating digital transformation into safer, more connected healthcare, following its submission titled “Accelerating Digital Maturity: From Transformation to Impact at Malaysia’s First EMRAM Stage 7 Hospital”.

The Gold Award is the highest honour in the category, with IJN competing against healthcare institutions including Apollo Hospitals in India, National University Health System in Singapore and Pok Oi Hospital in Hong Kong.

IJN Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Akmal Arief Mohamed Fauzi said the recognition highlighted how digital investment could deliver practical improvements to healthcare delivery.

“This Gold Award affirms that Malaysian healthcare institutions can compete with, and stand alongside, some of Asia’s most advanced hospitals. More importantly, it shows that our investment in digital transformation is creating real value by strengthening clinical decisionmaking, improving the coordination of care and supporting safer outcomes for patients.

“For IJN and Malaysia in general, this recognition demonstrates the capability of our healthcare professionals and digital teams to develop approaches that can serve as benchmarks for the wider healthcare system. IJN’s achievement is therefore not ours alone; it is a contribution to the country’s ambition to build a more connected, resilient and future-ready healthcare ecosystem,” he said.

Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr Alwi Mohamed Yunus, Clinical Director of Health Informatics at IJN, said the focus should be on how technology improves healthcare rather than technology itself.

“Technology alone does not transform healthcare. Its value comes from how effectively it supports clinicians, strengthens workflows and improves the experience and safety of every patient.

“This recognition reflects the collective effort of teams across the entire organisation, working together to translate digital transformation into meaningful improvements in healthcare delivery,” he said.
