A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck the Flores region in Indonesia at 12.40pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
MetMalaysia said the earthquake was centred at 8.1 degrees South and 120.8 degrees East, at a depth of 34 kilometres.
The epicentre was located about 240 kilometres east of Bima, Indonesia.
Despite the tremor, MetMalaysia said there was no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
The department issued the earthquake information at 12.50pm and said it would be the final information issued unless there were further developments or additional information.
