Lionel Messi is close to completing a deal to acquire Spanish second-tier club CD Eldense, adding another club to his growing football ownership portfolio, according to multiple reports in Spain.
Messi has agreed in principle to acquire all shares held by majority owner TH Soluciones Group S.A.S., with an announcement expected in the coming days. The deal remains subject to approval from Spain’s High Council for Sports (CSD).
The Colombian investment group took control of Eldense in October 2025 and would transfer its entire stake to Messi under the proposed deal.
Messi, who recently retired from international duty with Argentina, acquired fifth-tier Spanish club UE Cornella in April.
He is also expected to receive a stake in Major League Soccer club Inter Miami after his playing contract with the club ends.
Based in Elda, a town of about 55,000 people in Spain’s eastern Alicante province, Eldense have spent most of their history in the lower divisions.
However, following fresh investment, the club have featured in Spain’s second tier in three of the past four seasons.
Eldense are currently struggling at the start of the new campaign, having taken just two points from their opening four league matches. The club sacked manager Claudio Barragan on Sunday, leaving Eldense third from bottom.
Reuters said it had contacted TH Soluciones and Eldense for comment.
