Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd (AZRB) has announced the resignation of its independent non-executive chairman, Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad, effective Sept 9, 2026.
The construction and engineering group said the 70-year-old former Auditor-General resigned “to pursue personal interest.”
Madinah had served on AZRB’s board for more than five years, having first been appointed as an independent non-executive director on Aug 16, 2021. She was subsequently appointed independent non-executive chairman on May 1, 2023, following a one-month transition as chairman-designate.
Her departure therefore brings to an end a tenure of more than three years as chairman of the group.
Madinah is a veteran civil servant with more than 35 years of experience in Malaysia’s public sector.
She began her career as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1981 and subsequently held senior positions across several ministries and government agencies.
Among her prominent appointments were secretary-general of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and later secretary-general of the Ministry of Education.
Her final major appointment in the civil service was as Auditor-General of Malaysia from 2017 to 2019, becoming the first woman to hold the position since the establishment of the National Audit Department.
Madinah’s resignation comes amid other recent changes to AZRB’s board structure. The group appointed Dato’ Hj Wan Mohd Hilmi Wan Kamal as chairman of its Nomination Committee effective Sept 1, 2026.
