Lamine Yamal made Barcelona history on Wednesday after becoming the club’s youngest captain at just 19 years and 58 days old during the Spanish champions’ 5-1 Champions League win over Feyenoord.
The teenager took over the captain’s armband in the 71st minute when first-choice skipper Raphinha was substituted.
Yamal’s milestone eclipsed the previous record held by Bojan Krkic, who captained Barcelona at the age of 20 during a Copa del Rey match in 2010.
The occasion added another landmark to Yamal’s rapidly developing career as he continues to take on greater responsibility for the Catalan side.
