No areas nationwide recorded hazardous Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 9 am today, although 13 areas were in the unhealthy category due to haze.
Sarawak recorded the highest number of unhealthy readings, with Sarikei registering the highest API reading at 194, followed by Serian district police headquarters (IPD) at 183, Samarahan at 180 and Kuching at 171.
The other affected areas in the state were Samalaju at 164, Sri Aman at 157, Sibu at 155 and Mukah at 154, according to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal.
In Johor, Larkin recorded an API reading of 140, followed by Kluang at 125, Batu Pahat at 115 and Pasir Gudang at 114.
Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur also recorded an unhealthy reading of 167.
Overall, 48 areas nationwide recorded moderate air quality while seven areas were in the good category.
Under the API classification, readings from zero to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy and 301 and above hazardous.
