A fleet. A war. A man. A thought. A trick. A trick to break the walls of Troy. And burn it screaming to the ground.
Fans of the epic poem and Nolan’s interpretation can rejoice: the KL Shakespeare Players are bringing “storytelling Odyssey: The Adventure” to the stage, bringing Homer’s magnum opus to its roots in Grecian theatre.
This first instalment focuses on Odysseus’s adventures and journey home following the Trojan War.
Odysseus has won the War. He’s ready to go home. But the sea has other plans..
Storytelling Odyssey is a retelling of Homer’s epic, brought to life by three actors using everyday objects, movement, music, and a little help from the audience. Along the way, Odysseus will encounter monsters, magic, and impossible choices from the gods as he struggles to find his way home.
The show is suitable for audiences aged 5 to 90. Younger audiences may delight in the adventure; older audiences may find themselves thinking about entirely different things. What makes a hero? What happens when a journey changes us? How long can someone be away, before home no longer feels like home?
Held at the Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC) from September 26th to 27th, this epic poem will move you long after it ends. Tickets are available here at RM62.30
