A section of Magazine Road in George Town will be partially closed for 21 days from Sept 14 to Oct 5 to facilitate road widening and utility relocation works for the Penang Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) project.
Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) said the closure will begin at 10pm on Sept 14 and continue until 5am on Oct 5, with traffic restrictions in place around the clock throughout the period.
The closure will involve the leftmost lane of Magazine Road in front of the St Giles Wembley Hotel heading towards KOMTAR. Other lanes will remain open to traffic, allowing motorists to continue using the route during the construction period.
MRT Corp said the traffic arrangement is required to allow contractors to carry out road-widening and utility-relocation works associated with the Mutiara Line project.
