Bursa Malaysia ended lower on Sept 15 as investors stayed cautious ahead of the US Federal Open Market Committee’s interest rate decision, while soaring oil prices added to concerns over inflation and global market volatility.
At 5pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 18.80 points to 1,679.21 from its previous trading session closing of 1,698.01. The benchmark traded between 1,678.06 and 1,694.91 during the session.
Broader market weakness was also evident. The FBM 70 slipped 74.44 points to 17,615.65, while the F4GBM lost 9.48 points to 1,009.31.
The FBM Emas dropped 115.98 points to 12,443.93, while the FBM Shariah declined 110.35 points to 12,302.42.
Zetrix AI Bhd was the most actively traded stock, with about 392.53 million shares changing hands, gaining one sen to 25.5 sen.
Newly ACE Market debutant Butterfield FB Bhd followed with 107.45 million shares traded, easing two sen from its IPO price of 48 sen to 46 sen, while Top Glove Corporation Bhd slipped two sen to 81 sen on 72.15 million shares.
Ni Hsin Group Bhd gained 2.5 sen to 31.5 sen with 66.88 million shares traded, while MQ Technology Bhd added half a sen to six sen on 44.2 million shares.
Turnover improved to 3.34 billion units worth RM3.25 billion compared to 3.18 billion units valued at RM2.79 billion on Sept 14, showing firmer trading activity despite the weaker market tone.
