Selling pressure remained broad on Bursa Malaysia, with 780 decliners outnumbering 355 gainers, while trading turnover strengthened to 3.34 billion units worth RM3.25 billion.
A total of 551 counters were unchanged, 1,157 untraded and 13 suspended.
Nestle (M) Bhd topped the losers list, tumbling RM1.12 to RM90.18. Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd fell 40 sen to RM12.38, while Tenaga Nasional Bhd shed 32 sen to RM13.32.
Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd declined 30 sen to RM39.70, while Heineken Malaysia Bhd lost 26 sen to RM14.22.
On the upside, United Plantations Bhd led gainers with a 50 sen rise to RM33.60. MISC Bhd added 14 sen to RM7.95, while Yinson Holdings Bhd climbed 13 sen to RM2.13.
Gas Malaysia Bhd and Panasonic Manufacturing Malaysia Bhd both gained 12 sen, ending at RM5.05 and RM5.89 respectively.
Turnover improved from 3.18 billion units valued at RM2.79 billion on Sept 14, indicating firmer trading activity despite the weaker market breadth.
