Since 2022, Klang River Festival has followed a natural progression of stewardship, growing alongside the river and the communities connected to it.
KongsiKL presents Klang River Festival (KRF), an annual open festival that aims to bring local communities and stakeholders together to share knowledge and facilitate discourse on heritage, culture and identity.
Recognising the transient and ever-changing nature of the locales along the Klang River and its tributaries, the festival highlights the river’s importance as a source for transportation, fresh water, food, agriculture and religious rituals.
Participants can engage in varying ways. In their guided walk + zine workshop, you’ll learn all about the notable plants and animals commonly found along the Klang River from our knowledgeable guides. The guides will lead you through how these different species function in the ecosystem and how they interact with one another.
After the walk, participants will choose a specific species they learnt about or found along the Klang River and make a zine about it.
Or attend a poetry session by two brilliant up-and-coming poets amidst the bubbling brook. The author can affirm to this.
The evening doesn’t end with the performance. Bring your own instrument, your own words, or both, and join in for an open jam by the river. Participants can bring an instrument or a piece of eco-writing to share.
