Two areas in Selangor recorded unhealthy air quality as of 8am, with Shah Alam registering an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 156 and Petaling Jaya at 151.
According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Shah Alam was among the areas with the highest API readings nationwide.
Kuching and Serian in Sarawak recorded the highest readings at 168, followed by Seri Manjung in Perak at 164, Samarahan in Sarawak at 163, Sri Aman at 161 and Sibu at 160.
In the Klang Valley, Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur also recorded an API reading of 156, while Cheras and Putrajaya both stood at 155.
Sarikei in Sarawak registered 152, while Petaling Jaya, Nilai in Negeri Sembilan and Bintulu in Sarawak each recorded readings of 151.
Other areas in the unhealthy category included Kapit at 126, Larkin at 123, Tawau at 122, Tanjung Malim at 118, Bukit Rambai at 107 and Tangkak at 105.
Meanwhile, 37 areas nationwide recorded moderate air quality, while another 10 areas remained in the good category.
Under the API classification, readings between 0 and 50 are considered good, 51 to 100 moderate, while 101 to 200 are classified as unhealthy.
