Weather Picks Up With Thunderstorm Forecast At 9 States

Weather conditions are expected to worsen this afternoon, with thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds forecast across nine states and Kuala Lumpur until 5 pm today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued the warning at 2:35 pm, covering parts of Perak, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Sarawak and Sabah.

In Peninsular Malaysia, affected areas include Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar and Muallim in Perak; Dungun and Kemaman in Terengganu; and Maran, Cameron Highlands, Kuantan, Rompin, Bera, Bentong and Jerantut in Pahang.

The warning also covers Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat in Selangor, as well as Kuala Lumpur. In Negeri Sembilan, Jelebu, Jempol and Kuala Pilah are affected, while several districts in Johor, including Johor Bahru, Kota Tinggi, Kulai, Kluang and Mersing, are also under the warning.

In Sarawak, the affected areas include Mukah, Kuching, Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit, Miri and Limbang. In Sabah, the warning covers parts of the Interior, Sandakan and the West Coast.

The warning remains in effect until 5 pm today, with thunderstorms expected to bring periods of heavy rain and strong winds in the affected areas.
