PJBumi Bhd has entered into a strategic partnership with France-based H3 Dynamics to develop and commercialise hydrogen-powered unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and hydrogen storage technologies for the aerospace and defence industries.
The group said its indirect wholly-owned French subsidiary, PJBUMI Technologies SAS, signed the four-year agreement with H3 Dynamics on Sept 1, 2026.
The collaboration will combine H3 Dynamics’ ultra-light hydrogen fuel cell and propulsion technologies with PJBUMI Technologies’ chemical hydride hydrogen storage systems and hydrogen-electric UAV platforms.
Under the agreement, both companies will undertake joint prototyping, ground testing and flight testing of hydrogen-powered drones in Malaysia and France.
The partnership also covers the integration of drone software and electronics, including avionics, electronic warfare shielding and artificial intelligence-based navigation systems.
The companies will explore joint development programmes for the European aerospace and defence industries, while identifying potential customers and commercial opportunities globally.
PJBUMI Technologies will also market H3 Dynamics’ on-site hydrogen production solutions, known as H2-Field, as part of the collaboration.
The partnership is intended to facilitate the commercialisation of hydrogen-powered UAVs and related technologies by leveraging both companies’ technical expertise and product offerings.
PJBumi said the agreement is not expected to affect its earnings per share or future earnings for the financial year ending June 30, 2027.
