Village Park Restaurant is taking its familiar Malaysian flavours beyond its Petaling Jaya restaurant with a new merchandise collection featuring four ready-to-eat products.
Launched at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) during MIHAS 2026, the collection includes Sambal Petai, Sambal Ikan Bilis, Signature Kaya and Musang King Durian Kaya, developed in collaboration with ITP Foods.
The launch marks a new chapter for Village Park, which has served customers since 2002 and is best known for its Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng. The new range is aimed at customers who want to enjoy its flavours at home, including Malaysians living, working or studying overseas.
“For the past 24 years, Village Park has been blessed to be part of the lives of so many customers. Over time, we have also heard from customers who travel, work or study overseas and tell us how much they miss the familiar taste of Village Park,” said Dato Seri Dr. Mohd Shamil Ngoh Abdullah, Owner of Village Park Restaurant.
“This merchandise range was born from that connection. These are not simply products carrying the Village Park name. They are made to carry the flavours, memories and warmth that our customers associate with us. We hope that every jar opened at home brings back a familiar taste and a familiar feeling.”
From Sambal To Kaya
The collection draws on ingredients commonly associated with Malaysian cooking, including blue-eye anchovies, fresh chillies, onions, eggs, coconut milk and sugar.
Village Park said the products are made without artificial preservatives, artificial colouring or artificial food flavouring.
The Sambal Petai combines fresh peeled petai, fresh onions and blue-eye anchovies, while the Sambal Ikan Bilis focuses on the familiar combination of onions and anchovies found in traditional Malaysian sambal.
The Signature Kaya is made with fresh pandan leaves, eggs and coconut milk and is prepared through a slow-cooking process of around eight hours.
The Musang King Durian Kaya follows the same traditional approach, combining fresh Musang King durian meat with eggs and coconut milk for a richer take on the familiar Malaysian spread.
Taking A Taste Of Malaysia Overseas
Village Park said the collection has also been developed with international distribution in mind, giving the restaurant an opportunity to bring its flavours to consumers outside Malaysia.
Tourism Malaysia Chairman Datuk Manoharan Periasamy said Malaysian food plays an important role in the country’s tourism experience, allowing visitors to discover aspects of its culture and heritage through food.
“Brands such as Village Park play an important role in introducing Malaysian food culture to both domestic and international visitors. The extension of its signature flavours beyond the restaurant provides another opportunity for people to discover and bring home a taste of Malaysia,” he said.
The collection has undergone the halal registration process as part of Village Park’s efforts to meet relevant halal requirements during product development and manufacturing.
JAKIM Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Dr. Sirajuddin bin Suhaimee said halal requirements also contribute to quality, transparency and consumer confidence.
More Sambal On The Way
Village Park is also looking beyond its first four products, with the restaurant giving the media a preview of an upcoming sambal series.
The planned range includes Sambal Ijo, Sambal Cili Pan Mee and Sambal Ayam Gepuk, with the products expected to be introduced progressively.
The new merchandise collection is currently available at Village Park Restaurant and selected Village Grocer outlets, with the Musang King Durian Kaya available at selected outlets.
The products are also sold through ITP Foods’ TikTok Shop, with more retail channels expected to be added progressively.
