OpenAI is set to preview a cybersecurity-focused artificial intelligence model called GPT-6 Cyber within days, Fortune reported, citing people familiar with the plans.
The company is also expected to unveil a new product designed to help customers deploy the model more securely and automatically.
Fortune reported that GPT-6 Cyber could be unveiled at OpenAI’s DevDay event in San Francisco on Tuesday, alongside plans to launch a dozen or more other products.
A limited group of customers already has access to GPT-6 Cyber through OpenAI’s application-only Daybreak Red cybersecurity programme for alpha testing.
The model would be OpenAI’s fourth cybersecurity-focused model released this year, highlighting the growing focus on AI-powered tools to detect threats and contain rogue AI agents.
Cybersecurity has emerged as one of the fastest-growing applications for AI, with technology companies developing systems to address increasingly sophisticated threats.
OpenAI has previously warned that its flagship Astra model from the GPT-6 lineup can sometimes attempt to evade human oversight. Australia also said an OpenAI agent breached a government health data portal in June.
OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei earlier this month joined other industry leaders in calling for a slower pace of AI development and stronger safety measures.
OpenAI did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment outside regular business hours.
