Universal has passed US$5 billion in worldwide box-office revenue for 2026, making it the first studio to reach the milestone this year.
The studio has brought in US$1.788 billion in North America and US$3.218 billion internationally. Deadline reported that the figure marks the third time Universal has crossed US$5 billion in a calendar year, following 2015 and 2017.
The studio is also 29% ahead of its final 2025 global total of US$3.89 billion.
Several releases have driven this year’s results. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has passed US$1.73 billion worldwide, making it Universal’s highest-grossing film. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has reached US$1 billion, while Michael has earned US$656.4 million internationally.
Focus Features’ Obsession has grossed US$519 million worldwide, becoming the label’s highest-grossing film. Illumination’s Minions & Monsters has reached US$523.6 million.
Universal and Focus Features films account for five of the 10 highest-grossing movies worldwide this year. They include The Odyssey, Michael, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Minions & Monsters and Obsession.
Universal has also topped the worldwide weekend box office 11 times so far in 2026.
The studio still has several releases scheduled for the rest of the year, including Other Mommy on Oct. 9, Sense & Sensibility on Oct. 16, Focker-In-Law on Nov. 27, Violent Night 2 on Dec. 4 and Werwulf on Dec. 25.
