Haze conditions worsened in parts of Malaysia on Sep 27, with six areas recording unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 9 am, led by Kota Tinggi, Johor, at 165.
Other affected areas included Pasir Gudang at 163, Pengerang at 162 and Larkin at 156. In Sarawak, Serian recorded an API reading of 152, while Sri Aman registered 128.
The latest readings place all six locations in the unhealthy category, which covers API levels from 101 to 200. Meanwhile, 52 areas recorded moderate air quality and nine reported good readings, according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
The situation remains uneven across the country, with the highest concentrations currently recorded in southern Johor and parts of Sarawak. The Department of Environment operates APIMS to provide real-time air-quality information nationwide.
Residents in areas affected by unhealthy readings are advised to monitor the latest API levels and limit prolonged outdoor activity, particularly when air quality deteriorates further.
