Petrol and diesel prices will fall for the week of Oct 1 to Oct 7, with unsubsidised RON95 and RON97 dropping by five sen per litre, while diesel will be 15 sen cheaper, the Finance Ministry said.
According to the ministry, RON97 will fall to RM5 per litre from RM5.05, while unsubsidised RON95 will decline to RM4.52 from RM4.57. Diesel will drop to RM5.27 per litre from RM5.42.
The ministry attributed the lower prices to an easing in average global crude oil prices during the pricing period, helped by the resumption of operations at Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline.
Regional supply conditions have also improved, with China’s refined petroleum exports in September estimated at more than four million tonnes, compared with an average of about three million tonnes a month last year.
However, the ministry cautioned that global supply conditions remain uneven, with disruptions at a major Russian refinery and continued uncertainty linked to the US-Iran conflict keeping fuel markets volatile.
Subsidised fuel prices remain unchanged. Eligible BUDI95 recipients will continue to pay RM1.99 per litre for RON95, while BUDI Diesel recipients will pay RM2.10 per litre.
