Bursa Malaysia extended its decline at midday on Oct 1, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) falling 15.36 points, or 0.93%, to 1,635.81, as persistent selling pressure and rising US Treasury yields kept risk appetite subdued.
The index had closed at 1,651.17 on Sept 30 and traded between 1,634.39 and 1,649.87 during the morning session.
Selling was broad-based across key indices. The FBM 70 slipped 87.65 points, or 0.5%, to 17,487.02, while the F4GBM fell 7.86 points, or 0.79%, to 988.60.
The FBM Emas declined 94.19 points, or 0.77%, to 12,197.83, while the FBM Shariah dropped 87.70 points, or 0.72%, to 12,088.65.
Market breadth also remained negative, with 583 decliners against 305 gainers, while 464 counters were unchanged, 1,421 untraded and 12 suspended.
Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd topped the losers list, dropping 76 sen to RM21.44, followed by Allianz Malaysia Bhd, which fell 62 sen to RM21.
Batu Kawan Bhd, Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd and Hong Leong Industries Bhd all declined 42 sen to RM20.10, RM21.32 and RM16.04, respectively.
On the upside, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd led gainers, jumping RM1.26 to RM41.66. MI Technovation Bhd gained 13 sen to RM5.33, Ta Ann Holdings Bhd rose 12 sen to RM5.92, Malayan Cement Bhd added 11 sen to RM5.56, while Genting Plantations Bhd advanced 10 sen to RM5.63.
Among the most actively traded counters, Zetrix AI Bhd gained 0.5 sen to 16.5 sen on 138.26 million shares.
VS Industry Bhd added 0.5 sen to 28.5 sen, while JAKS Resources Bhd eased 0.5 sen to 20 sen.
Newly ACE Market listed GB Bond Holdings Bhd fell 2.5 sen to 22.5 sen, while Dagang NeXchange Bhd rose 1.5 sen to 50 sen.
The weaker midday performance came as investors remained cautious amid mixed global market signals, with the continued rise in US Treasury yields weighing on equities and broader risk sentiment.
Turnover stood at 1.65 billion shares worth RM1.18 billion.
