Malaysia Air Quality Improves As No Areas Record Unhealthy API

Air quality across Malaysia improved on Thursday, with 63 monitoring stations recording moderate Air Pollutant Index (API) readings and no areas registering unhealthy levels, according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).

Seri Manjung in Perak recorded the highest reading at 98, followed by Shah Alam in Selangor at 95 and Nilai in Negeri Sembilan at 94.

Cheras in Kuala Lumpur, Klang and Johan Setia in Selangor each recorded 92, while Petaling Jaya registered 86. Other moderate readings included Seberang Perai at 85, Taiping at 85 and Putrajaya at 83.

In Johor, Pasir Gudang recorded 77, followed by Larkin at 74, Segamat at 73, Kota Tinggi at 71, Pengerang at 70, Tangkak at 69, Batu Pahat at 65 and Kluang at 60.

Five stations recorded good air quality, led by ILP Miri at 49 and Labuan at 48. Miri recorded 46, followed by Limbang at 35 and Kota Kinabalu at 34.

Under APIMS classification, readings between 51 and 100 are considered moderate while readings from zero to 50 are categorised as good.

The public, particularly children, senior citizens and those with respiratory conditions, are advised to reduce outdoor activities if haze conditions worsen and monitor the latest API readings.
