PM Calls On Youths To Reject Corrupt Leaders Or Defend Them Over Racial Sentiment

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on youths to reject corrupt leaders and refuse to defend them based on racial or political party sentiments.

He said the younger generation must have the courage to oppose corruption, abuse of power and divisive racial rhetoric, stressing that such issues should not be overlooked for the sake of political or communal loyalty.

Anwar said youths have an important role in shaping the country’s future and should not view themselves merely as leaders of tomorrow, but as partners in leadership today.

He also stressed the importance of developing strong principles and the ability to distinguish right from wrong, saying academic qualifications alone do not guarantee integrity or good character.

In a speech at the 2026 National Student Figure Awards, Anwar urged young Malaysians to develop a stronger awareness of social issues and have the courage to address weaknesses in the system.

Bernama reported that Anwar also called on the younger generation to reject racial and religious extremism, while stressing the need to uphold unity in Malaysia’s multiracial society.
