Under Fire, SIC Is Working To Resolve Traffic Situation Around Sepang F1

Under fire over severe congestion and transport delays, Sepang International Circuit (SIC) is working with transport partners and relevant authorities to improve traffic management and the movement of spectators during the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2026.

SIC said the measures followed difficulties faced by some fans entering and leaving the circuit on Friday, particularly in the afternoon.

The circuit operator said it was reviewing traffic management, transport services and passenger movement, while advising spectators to plan their journeys in advance and follow instructions from personnel and traffic signage at the venue.

Traffic arrangements may also be adjusted according to prevailing conditions, SIC said.

The response comes after several ticket holders expressed frustration on social media over severe congestion when leaving the circuit, as well as long waits for shuttle buses serving car parks and public transport hubs.

SIC had earlier worked with the Royal Malaysia Police on a new traffic management plan, with 115 external shuttle buses and 30 free shuttle buses provided for the event.

The Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix is being held at Sepang from Oct 2 to 4, following an agreement between Formula 1, the FIA and the governments of Malaysia and Bahrain.
