Bursa Malaysia remained firmly in positive territory at midday on Oct 6, tracking gains across regional markets after Wall Street advanced overnight on renewed strength in megacap technology stocks, supported by solid artificial intelligence (AI) investment and earnings momentum.
At 12.30pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) climbed 5.49 points, or 0.34%, to 1,637.24, from its close of 1,631.75 on Oct 5. The index traded between 1,635.21 and 1,641.20 during the morning session.
Gains too were extended across the broader market, led by FBM Shariah as it advanced 74.37 points, or 0.62%, to 12,143.38. The FBM 70 rose 97.32 points, or 0.55%, to 17,640.81, while the F4GBM gained 3.58 points, or 0.36%, to 991.77. The FBM Emas added 43.42 points, or 0.36%, to 12,233.77.
Market breadth was positive, with 524 gainers outpacing 428 decliners, while 520 counters were unchanged, 1,310 untraded and 13 suspended.
Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd topped the gainers, jumping 86 sen to RM44.26, followed by Nestlé (M) Bhd, which climbed 70 sen to RM90.70.
Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd gained 48 sen to RM21.34, while MI Technovation Bhd rose 38 sen to RM5.79. Batu Kawan Bhd rounded out the top five gainers, adding 24 sen to RM19.22.
On the other hand, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd led the decliners, falling 40 sen to RM29.60, while BLD Plantation Bhd slipped 18 sen to RM14.82.
Ayer Holdings Bhd fell 15 sen to RM7.55, Samaiden Group Bhd dropped 12 sen to RM3.07, while Kelington Group Bhd shed 10 sen to RM9.02.
Zetrix AI Bhd was the most actively traded counter, surging three sen to 9.5 sen, after trading between 6.5 sen and 9.5 sen, with about 663.3 million shares exchanged.
Newly ACE Market listed SLGC Bhd slipped three sen to 25 sen on about 66.11 million shares, while VS Industry Bhd eased half a sen to 31.5 sen with roughly 39.65 million shares traded.
Divfex Bhd was unchanged at 15.5 sen on about 23.24 million shares, while Ramssol Group Bhd declined two sen to 81.5 sen, with around 18.28 million shares changing hands.
Turnover stood at 2.36 billion units worth RM1.24 billion.
