MIMOS Bhd and Canada-based Quantropi Inc have entered into a strategic collaboration to accelerate the evaluation, adoption and commercialisation of quantum-safe cybersecurity technologies in Malaysia.
The partnership combines MIMOS’ capabilities in quantum technologies, cybersecurity and quantum key distribution with Quantropi’s Quantum Secure Key Distribution (QSKD) technology.
Both parties have already conducted technical evaluations and trials, providing a foundation for further work on real-world applications, proof-of-concept projects and potential commercial deployments.
Under the Strategic Collaboration Agreement, MIMOS and Quantropi will jointly identify use cases, engage with industry and ecosystem players, develop proof-of-concept projects and explore opportunities for deployment, commercialisation and technology development.
A key focus will be Quantropi’s software-based QSKD solution, which is designed to secure key delivery over existing digital infrastructure without requiring specialised hardware or dedicated fibre networks.
MIMOS President and Group CEO Dr Saat Shukri Embong said the collaboration could help translate Malaysia’s existing quantum and cybersecurity capabilities into practical applications across strategically important sectors.
Beyond commercial deployment, both parties may also undertake joint research and development initiatives aimed at strengthening local expertise, talent and longer-term quantum-safe capabilities.
The collaboration comes as organisations increasingly assess how to protect digital systems against future cybersecurity risks associated with quantum computing.
