Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to table Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat at 3.30pm today, with cost-of-living pressures, economic resilience and fiscal reforms among the key priorities.
The tabling will be broadcast live on local television and social media platforms. Stay tuned to BusinessToday and its social media platforms (X and Instagram) for the latest updates, key announcements and developments from Budget 2027 as they unfold.
The budget will be Anwar’s fifth under the current administration and the second under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), focusing on economic growth, improving living standards and strengthening public sector governance.
According to the Finance Ministry’s pre-budget statement, Budget 2027 will build on previous fiscal measures, including subsidy rationalisation and fiscal consolidation, amid geopolitical uncertainties and global supply chain disruptions.
The ministry has identified 10 key priorities, including narrowing regional disparities, easing living costs through targeted assistance such as Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah and BUDI MADANI, and expanding social protection for gig workers.
Other priorities include improving education and healthcare services, addressing Malaysia’s ageing population, strengthening workers’ welfare through better wages and accelerating public sector digitalisation through government technology.
The budget will also focus on supporting local entrepreneurs through the “Made by Malaysia” initiative and attracting high-value investments in semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
In a post on X on Oct 8, Anwar said he hoped the budget would strengthen economic resilience, ease living costs and create more opportunities while ensuring broader distribution of economic benefits.
