The handover document of the agreement to set up a study centre at EduCity Iskandar with the Northern Consortium United Kingdom (NCUK) was held today at EduCity Complex 1,

It was represented by En Wan Ahmad Saifuddin Wan Ahmad Radzi, Managing Director of EduCity Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd (EIMSB) and Suzanne Bartlett, the University Partnerships and Placement Director representing NCUK and was witnessed by En Haris Hardi Zakaria, Chairman EXCO of EIMSB.

This agreement has certified EduCity Iskandar as one NCUK’s Study Centre offer the International Foundation Year (IFY) programme, which is a Fast Track programme offering a nine-month session as opposed to the traditional route to university (one year). The IFY programme also offers excellent value for money where the fees are only a fraction of the cost compared to studying the same programme in the United Kingdom.

Another cost-effective reason for students taking this programme is that they will be exempted from IELTS, TOEFL, and other required English examinations before their degree studies as the programme already has an integrated module, the English for Academic Purposes (EAP).

This allows them to be exempted from resetting their IELTS or other English examinatons from their university of choice. This qualification will help bridge the gap between the students’ local qualifications and university study. It is designed to give them the academic and English language skills needed to succeed at an international university.

Upon meeting the requirements to pass their IFY programme, students who chose the Foundation in Business will have a choice of continuing their degree in the field of Law, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Finance and Marketing. In contrast, those who chose the Foundation in Arts will have a choice among the field of Arts, Engineering, Creative and Hospitality.

The students who passed the IFY programme will have access to over 4,000-degree and guaranteed placement in any one of NCUK’s partner universities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, including ten (10) higher education institutions in Malaysia that also accept these requirements to enrol in their degree programme namely, University of Southampton Malaysia, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, Nottingham University Malaysia, Swinburne University Malaysia, Monash University Malaysia, Sunway University Malaysia, UCSI University Malaysia, HELP University Malaysia, Asia Pacific University
Malaysia, City University Malaysia and Tunku Abdul Rahman University Malaysia.

“We are honoured that NCUK has certified us as one of their Study Centre to offer the International Foundation Year programme. The latest data by NCUK shows that over 80% of students who had studied NCUK qualifications achieved a first or second class degree. With the flexibility of starting your degree at EduCity Iskandar, our students will then have the opportunity to access world class universities to complete their education journey,” said En Wan Ahmad Saifuddin during his speech.

Further adding to En Wan Saifuddin’s statement, Ms Suzanne Bartlett also highlighted the many benefits of undergoing the IFY programme by NCUK in her speech.

“Graduate employability rates across the NCUK universities are extremely high and there are vast internship and work experience opportunities available to students. I would like to congratulate EduCity Iskandar on this new venture with NCUK and very much look forward to welcoming additional students from Malaysia onto the degree programmes with NCUK Universities over many years to come.”

The programme will commence in September 2022, and registration is open now for those interested in applying for the International Foundation Year programme NCUK at EduCity Iskandar.
