Malaysian Film Bags Fipresci Prize

‘Stone Turtle’ – a Malaysian Film directed by Woo Ming Jin and produced by Edmund Yeo, bagged the Fipresci Prize at the 75th Locarno Film Festival. It was the first time a feature filmed in Bahasa competed in the main category of the Prestigious Swiss festival.

“Stone Turtle” by Ming Jin Woo (Malaysia, Indonesia, 2022), which “offers a multiplicity of perspectives on urgent themes such as violence against women, the question of who has a right to citizenship and the way we deal with our natural environment. This is a film that truly inspired us through its multilayered whirlwind of perceptions and sensibilities,” wrote the jury.
