PADU Registration Reaches 1.54 Million, Rafizi Plans Roadshow

The Ministry of Economy, Rafizi Ramli recently shared in his X platform (formerly known as Twitter) that the Perbadanan Data Nasional Berhad (PADU) initiative, has swiftly emerged as a catalyst for Govtech transformation in Malaysia, with over 1.54 million Malaysians, including children under 18, registering within a mere two weeks since its launch.

Acknowledging the overwhelming response, he is set to intensify on-the-ground efforts starting next week, especially targeting the low-income demographic, to further encourage widespread participation in PADU.

“I will be going down to the field starting next week to encourage more people, especially those with low incomes, to register for PADU.” he wrote on X.

Rafizi expressed understanding for those awaiting clarity on how PADU can enhance their daily lives. Beyond its primary goal of ensuring fair eligibility for targeted subsidies, PADU plays a pivotal role as the data backbone for the impending Govtech implementation.

Govtech is envisioned to revolutionise citizens’ government interactions through digitalization, enhancing efficiency, simplicity, and sophistication. The comprehensive role of PADU as a data backbone underscores its significance in driving this technological transformation.

As Malaysians continue to embrace the registration process, the success of PADU becomes imperative. The call to action is clear – register as soon as possible and do not wait until the deadline on March 31, 2024.

The Govtech era beckons, promising a future where technology reshapes the way citizens engage with the government, making it more efficient, accessible, and advanced.
