KPMG Appoints Dr. Veerinderjeet Singh As Senior Advisor On Tax Policy

KPMG Malaysia anounced the appointment of Dr. Veerinderjeet Singh as its Senior Advisor on Tax Policy, effective March 1, 2024.

With an illustrious career spanning over four decades, Dr. Veerinderjeet brings a wealth of experience in tax management across various sectors, including the public sector, academia, professional firms, and corporate entities. Notably, he served on the Tax Reform Committee appointed by the Malaysian Ministry of Finance from 2018 to 2020.

Prior to joining KPMG, Dr. Veerinderjeet held esteemed positions such as Non-Executive Chairman of Tricor Malaysia, Executive Chairman/CEO of Axcelasia Inc, and Chairman/Managing Director of Taxand Malaysia.

He currently holds key roles in prestigious organisations, including Chair of the Ethics Standards Board at the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), and EXCO member of the International Fiscal Association (Malaysia Branch).

Managing Partner of KPMG Malaysia, Managing Partner, Datuk Johan Idris, expressed his enthusiasm for Dr. Veerinderjeet’s appointment, highlighting his extensive experience and invaluable contributions to the tax landscape. Dr. Veerinderjeet’s return to KPMG, where he began his career, is viewed as a significant milestone for the firm.

In his new role, Dr. Veerinderjeet will provide strategic guidance and insights to KPMG’s tax advisory team, bolstering the firm’s capabilities in navigating the complex tax environment.

Speaking on his appointment, Dr. Veerinderjeet emphasised the critical role of taxation in driving economic development, underscoring the importance of sound tax policies to spur productivity, sectoral growth, and foreign direct investment in Malaysia.
