KPDN ECC Continues To Monitor Business Activity Compliance Throughout Raya

OPS PANTAU, which has been implemented since Mar 12, 2024 specifically to monitor business activities will continue throughout the month of Ramadan and before the month of Syawal.

This is to ensure enforcement is carried out in a focused manner throughout the country at various locations such as Ramadan Bazaars, Aidilfitri Bazaars, public markets, wet markets, hypermarkets, supermarkets, retail stores and those outlets which carry out sales activities.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister (KPDN) Datuk Seri Armizan Mohd Ali, in a statement today (Apr 5), said based on OPS PANTAU 2024 statistics from March 12, 2024 to April 4 2024, a total of 38,126 premises were inspected nationwide. From of that amount, a total of 164 cases were produced for various offences with a confiscation value of RM558,956.63. A total of 1,216 complaints by users have also been received in the same period involving various categories of complaints.

Among the offenses were failure to place a price tags, not using a legitimate weighing device and selling counterfeit goods.

The implementation of OPS PANTAU is fully activated through the System Integrated Enforcement Management (IEMS) to enable fast and effective follow-up. The IEMS system, which commenced operations since January 2024, has been fully adopted across the country. The system has also gone through its Phase 2 development process which involved adding on method improvement components, inspection and compounding features based on the 5Ps which are Intelligence, Inspection, Investigation, Prosecution and Exhibit Management.

The system upgrade also covers additional features to address the Price Regulation Module and Supply, Intellectual Property, Enforcement Management and Simple Applications Mobile for use by Enforcement Officers via mobile phone, tablet computers, laptops and printers.

This system is integrated directly on a real time basis with the Enforcement Command Centre.

During the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays, the ECC will continue operate as usual and not shut down to ensure enforcement and monitoring tasks continue under the main focus of ensuring the availability of goods and price stability during throughout this festive season.

KPDN’s ECC will operate every day from 8.00 am until 8.00 pm for Putrajaya KPDN Headquarters, while for State KPDN offices throughout the country operating hours are from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm.

ECC KPDN has the role of coordinating information, complaints and coordinate enforcement actions with KPDN Offices throughout country to ensure issues related to the supply, price of goods and complaints from consumers can be addressed throughout the festive season.

Based on the KPDN customer charter for complaint resolution, complaints on supply and price of goods will be followed up with an investigation within 24 hours. While for other complaints, the prescribed follow-up period is 14 days.

Based on complaints received on supply and price issues for 2023, a total of 914 complaints have been received and investigated which includes issues pertaining to cooking oil items (334 complaints), sugar (229 complaints), eggs (149 complaints), chicken (98 complaints), LPG liquid petroleum gas (62 complaints).

KPDN would like to remind all traders to comply with legislation that has been set by the Government especially throughout Eid al-Fitr festival season to avoid being charged with any wrongdoing.
