Maybank International Holdings Sdn Bhd (MIH), part of the Maybank Investment Banking Group (Maybank IBG), has renewed its memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC) to further advance the development of Cambodia’s capital market.
The new two-year agreement expands on an existing cooperation framework first established in 2020, focusing on capacity building, regulatory expertise sharing and technical collaboration to strengthen Cambodia’s capital market infrastructure.
Under the renewed MoU, both parties will work together in areas such as corporate governance, risk management, compliance, financial standards and product innovation, while also enhancing investor participation and foreign investment inflows.
Maybank IBG Chief Executive Officer Michael Oh-Lau said the collaboration comes at a pivotal time as Cambodia charts its Securities Sector Development Master Plan 2025-2035, which aims to diversify financial products and promote sustainable finance.
“With projected economic growth of 4% next year and rising infrastructure needs, Cambodia’s capital market holds significant potential to mobilise funds, particularly for sustainable infrastructure projects,” he said.
