BTS has kicked off 2026 with exciting news for fans worldwide: the K-pop superstars will release their comeback album on March 20. BigHit Music confirmed the date in a New Year’s message, marking the seven-member group’s first full album since Proof in June 2022—almost four years ago.
Hints of the comeback first appeared in handwritten letters sent to Gold-level ARMYs. The notes included a mysterious logo, the date, and heartfelt New Year’s wishes.
Leader RM admitted he had “waited more desperately than anyone else,” while the band expressed gratitude to fans who stayed by them through their hiatus. The official announcement quickly followed on social media, sparking celebrations across Facebook, Twitter, and beyond.
The announcement came just after their December 31 Weverse livestream, where they rang in the New Year by pledging a “safe comeback” and vowing to make 2026 a big year for the group.
The comeback comes after a break for mandatory military service, which all seven members have now completed. Before their hiatus, BTS generated over 5.5 trillion won (around US$3.8 billion) annually for South Korea—roughly 0.2% of the country’s GDP.
Globally, they have broken records as Spotify’s most-streamed group and became the first K-pop act to top both the Billboard 200 and Artist 100 charts in the US.
BTS’s return isn’t limited to music. The group will follow the album with a large-scale world tour, with full details expected to be released soon.
