The Immigration Department of Malaysia(JIM) has postponed the implementation of the new version of the Malaysian International Passport (PMA), which was previously scheduled to begin on June 1, 2026.
In a statement today, the department said the rollout would be rescheduled to a later date, which will be announced in due course.
Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the move was aimed at ensuring smooth service delivery and maintaining a high standard of public experience in passport-related transactions.
He said the public can continue renewing existing passports as usual, while passports that remain valid can still be used until their expiry date.
Any further developments regarding the implementation of the new passport version will be announced through the department’s official channels from time to time.
He said the department remains committed to strengthening the security of the country’s travel documents while continuing to provide efficient services to the public.
