Stock Today: TNB Rises 0.70% After RM42.44 Million Grid Deployment Deal Comes Into Effect

Tenaga Nasional Bhd traded slightly higher as of the time of writing, up 0.70% or 1 sen at RM14.32, as the counter remained supported in early trade with steady price action following news of a RM42.44 million fibre optic infrastructure contract linked to its grid expansion works.

The stock opened at RM14.28 and moved within a narrow intraday range of RM14.20 to RM14.34, reflecting relatively stable trading conditions. Volume stood at 1.05 million shares, with the counter holding most of its gains through the session without sharp volatility.

The mild upward movement came after reports that Tenaga Nasional had formalised a fibre optic deployment contract with Rohas Tecnic Bhd valued at RM42.44 million. The project, which focuses on upgrading connectivity across the utility’s high-voltage transmission grid, was activated on June 5, 2026 following the execution of a tax addendum that resolved earlier administrative delays tied to Sales and Service Tax treatment.

The agreement effectively brings the infrastructure project into force after an earlier award in August 2025, with the deployment expected to support ongoing enhancements to TNB’s transmission network. Market movement remained measured despite the development, with the counter continuing to trade within a tight band around the RM14.30 level.
