Former MOF Director, Dato Ab Rahim Appointed To TNB Board

Tenaga Nasional Bhd has appointed Dato’ Sri Ab Rahim Ab Rahman as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director, effective June 12, 2026.

The utility giant said the appointment was approved by its board and that Ab Rahim will represent the interests of TNB’s special shareholder, the Minister of Finance (Incorporated).

Ab Rahim, 53, currently serves as Deputy Secretary General of Treasury (Management) at the Ministry of Finance, a position he assumed on April 15, 2026.

Prior to his current role, he was National Budget Director at the National Budget Office from March 2025 to April 2026. He also previously served as Under Secretary of the Government Procurement Division at the Ministry of Finance between September 2022 and March 2025.

His public sector career spans nearly three decades, with experience across fiscal management, procurement, remuneration policy, state economic planning and investment promotion.

Among his previous appointments were Chief Executive Officer of NS Corporation, Chief Executive of the Malaysia Vision Valley (MVV) Development Secretariat in Negeri Sembilan, and Director of the state’s Privatisation and Investment Unit.

Ab Rahim began his career in the public service in 1997, serving in the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia before moving to the Public Service Department and subsequently holding various positions within the Negeri Sembilan state administration and the Ministry of Finance.

He holds a Master of Science in Information and Management from Universiti Teknologi Mara and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from Universiti Malaya.
