Vantris Energy Moves To Exit PN17 Status

Vantris Energy Berhad formerly known as Sapura Energy Berhad said it had officially submitted an application to Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on June 15, 2026, seeking to lift its classification as an affected listed issuer under Practice Note 17 (PN17).

The application, lodged on behalf of the group by MBSB Investment Bank Berhad, marks the culmination of an intensive multi-year financial restructuring effort.

Sapura Energy originally fell into PN17 status in May 2022 after its shareholders’ equity dropped below 50% of its paid-up capital, burdened by aggressive debt-funded acquisitions and oversupply shocks in the global oil market.

To orchestrate its turnaround, shareholders approved a name change to Vantris Energy in mid-2025 alongside a massive capital reconstruction framework.

The formal request to uplift the PN17 tag marks a significant corporate milestone. If approved by Bursa Malaysia, it will signal Vantris Energy’s official return to financial health.
