Govt Offers 640 Sponsorship Slots To Top SPM Students For Further Studies

The government, through the Public Service Department (JPA), has offered 640 sponsorship slots to outstanding SPM leavers for the 2026 intake as part of efforts to develop high-performing talent and strengthen the country’s future workforce.

JPA said the sponsorship programme is aimed at ensuring top-performing students continue to have access to quality education at leading institutions both locally and abroad, in line with the government’s aspiration to build a competitive and skilled talent pipeline.

The 640 sponsorship slots are offered under four programmes: the National Sponsorship Programme (PPN) with 30 slots, the Domestic SPM Leavers Programme (LSPM) with 200 slots, the Japan, Korea, France and Germany Special Programme (JKPJ) with 140 slots, and the JPA-MARA Special Programme (PKJM) with 270 slots.

The sponsorships cover a range of strategic and critical fields, including engineering, science and technology, as well as social sciences.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to pursue their studies at leading institutions in countries such as the United States, Australia, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and New Zealand, as well as selected local universities.

Candidates who submitted applications can check their results online from 10am today until 5pm on June 22 through JPA’s online system.

All successful recipients will receive funding under the Merit-Based Convertible Loan (PBUA) scheme, which was introduced in June 2025 to reward academic excellence and encourage students to maintain strong performance throughout their studies.

JPA said the sponsorship programme reflects its commitment to nurturing future professionals and leaders who are knowledgeable, ethical and capable of contributing to the nation’s development.
