Forests are silent, omniscient, and ancient. Forest Speaks then aims to challenge this narrative with an art exhibition cum fundraiser.
From the minds of David Lok and business partner Moo Fook Yok, they at first bought 50 acres of land in Bandar Baru Sungai Buaya, Selangor for a private reforestation project. They then formed their conservation organisation Green Tree Plantation, an organisation for forest restoration and care.
Now, they will be hosting a fundraising exhibition from June 26 to July 5, where it will feature about 100 paintings, tracings, and furniture shaped by the forest itself, using natural elements such as bark, mud, rain and light. Additionally, the artworks and furniture are available for purchase, with proceeds going directly towards Green Tree’s restoration fund and Malaysia’s first Wakaf Food Forest.
Forest Speaks invites visitors to experience the connection between art and restoration, and to contribute towards the next phases of reviving Malaysian forests amidst rapid urban development.
Located at Sunway Damansara, the exhibition will be held from 26th June (tomorrow) until July 5th, from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. The event is completely free for interested purveyors, as the exhibit aims to be more educational in nature.
