Student Book Voucher To Be Released Tomorrow

More than 2.2 million students under the Ministry of Education (MOE) will be eligible to redeem RM100 e-vouchers under the MADANI Book Voucher 2026 programme beginning tomorrow, with the government allocating RM221.6 million for the initiative.

Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh said voucher redemption will open at 11am on July 1 and remain available until Oct 31 through the BookCapital platform, which currently has 1,238 registered booksellers.

The programme will benefit 2,217,579 recipients, comprising students from transition classes to Form Six, vocational colleges, matriculation colleges and the Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia.

Speaking during Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat, Wong said this year’s programme introduces the MADANI Special Titles Focus, requiring every recipient to purchase at least one book from a selected category.

The categories include literary classics, history, philosophy, economics, geopolitics and human capital development, alongside books on future technologies such as artificial intelligence, information technology, science, technology, engineering and mathematics as well as digitalisation.

Responding to a supplementary question, Wong said impact studies conducted since the programme was introduced in 2024 showed positive results. A survey by Institut Darul Ehsan found that 97.5% of respondents agreed the vouchers had significantly helped students, particularly those from lower-income households, while 92.2% said the initiative helped them prepare for examinations.

He added that the programme achieved a 100% redemption rate in 2024, demonstrating the effectiveness of its fully digital implementation. The online purchase and delivery system also ensures students in rural and remote areas have the same access to reading materials as those in urban areas.
