Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin is set to retire on July 8 after more than three decades in the statistics service.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today received a farewell courtesy call from Mohd Uzir ahead of his mandatory retirement.
In a Facebook post, Anwar expressed his appreciation for Mohd Uzir’s dedication and contributions in strengthening Malaysia’s national statistical institution, describing reliable data as a critical foundation for policymaking and the country’s development planning.
The Prime Minister also shared photographs of the meeting and noted that Mohd Uzir has served as Malaysia’s Chief Statistician since his appointment on Feb 14, 2017.
Mohd Uzir, who holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Sheffield, began his career in the national statistics service in 1990.
