KDEBWM Partners TM Enviro For Structured E-Waste Collection And Circular Economy System In Selangor

KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) has entered into a strategic partnership with TM Enviro Industries Sdn Bhd to strengthen e-waste management in Selangor through a more integrated circular economy framework, covering collection, processing and regulated material recovery.

The collaboration, formalised via a memorandum of understanding, is aimed at building a more systematic and compliant ecosystem for electronic waste handling, aligned with Department of Environment (DOE) requirements.

Under the agreement, KDEBWM will focus on upstream operations including e-waste collection, community outreach, recycling centre coordination and logistics through its SELKitar service. TM Enviro will manage downstream processes, including technical treatment, secondary transport, resource recovery and final disposal at its licensed facility in Pulau Indah.

The SELKitar programme will be expanded to include electronic waste collection, with its mobile fleet facilitating door-to-door pickup of small household e-waste such as mobile phones, laptops, cables, wiring and other portable devices across participating local authority areas.

Larger items such as refrigerators, washing machines and air-conditioning units will not be collected via the door-to-door service and must instead be delivered to designated recycling centres or collection points.

All e-waste under Scheduled Waste Code SW110 collected through the system will be channelled to TM Enviro for controlled processing, covering IT equipment, household electrical appliances, EV components, copper wiring and printed circuit boards.

The partnership is expected to improve material recovery efficiency, reduce improper disposal risks and support more disciplined household participation in regulated waste management channels.

KDEBWM said the initiative also supports Selangor’s wider push to increase recycling rates, reduce landfill reliance and advance circular economy practices, while inviting participation from public and private stakeholders to scale up e-waste collection initiatives.
