Menara Merdeka 118 has been designated as Malaysia’s largest AC electric vehicle (EV) charging hub following the availability of a 32-bay charging facility at the iconic Kuala Lumpur landmark tower.
The facility, done via the collaboration between Yinson GreenTech’s chargEV and PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd (PNBMV), is designed to support high-volume urban EV charging demand, integrating charging infrastructure within a major mixed-use development in the city centre.
The hub comprises 32 AC chargers rated at 22kW, providing charging access for tenants, visitors and surrounding users as EV adoption continues to expand in urban areas.
PNBMV chief executive officer Datuk Ir Ts Izwan Ibrahim said the integration of EV charging infrastructure is part of the development’s long-term planning to support sustainable urban mobility needs and ensure the precinct remains future-ready.
Yinson GreenTech Chief Executive Officer Louisa Brady said the 32-bay installation represents one of the largest single AC charging hubs in the country, aimed at improving charging accessibility and operational reliability at key high-traffic locations.
She said the collaboration is focused on expanding EV charging availability in everyday destinations, supported by chargEV’s network and application ecosystem.
The partnership will be extended with the planned rollout of DC fast chargers at the upcoming 118 Mall, scheduled to open in August 2026, to complement the AC charging network and support faster charging requirements.
